    Testimonial

I am a 76 year young Bow hunter from Grapevine, Texas. It was my pleasure to be the first bow hunter to book a hunt for Whitetail and Mule deer at Dos Plumas-Nebraska ranch. The owners, Allen and Lori Williams were the best hosts any one could ask for. Lori is an excellent cook so the food was wonderful. I gained about five pounds in four days of pigging out. My wife, Peggy, came along as driving navigator and spent all week sewing for our great-grand kids.

I hunted in a ground blind at one location and a 6 foot elevated stand at another. Shooting something small was not in my plans, so I was choosey. During the four days there I saw at least 3-4 bucks (4pt, 6pt, 8pt) on each hunt. Of course, there were many does also. As luck would have it Odd things seem to happen on a hunt and I got my share. On Monday, the chair I set up was too low for the window of the ground blind. I spooked a 10pt buck trying to get into position for a shot at a distance of 10 FEET. On Tuesday, a single 10pt buck stopped and looked at the blind. He wasn't going to come in any closer. I had him at 50 yds, but he was 54 yds. I shot and he jumped up about five feet as the arrow went under him. On Wednesday, another 10 pt buck came into view about 20 feet from me and spooked before I could get on him for a shot. The continuing saga went on to Thursday with a shooter buck coming in broadside at thirty-five yards. I thought to myself, "This is a perfect situation." I aimed and just as I released, the buck heard or smelled something behind him and turned his head covering the target zone. The arrow bounced off his rack and into the wild blue yonder. He ran about 40 yds. and stopped and shook his head as if to say "What was that?" He needed a Tylenol for sure!

The cost of the hunt and lodging was nominal in relation to the going market value. Allen and Lori go out of their way to make the hunts affordable to the ordinary working person. You can't go wrong by giving them a call and booking a hunt. I know that I will again, the good Lord willing.
